c. Words & Phrases: categorizing words and phrases of personal interest gathered from a wide variety of texts and reading for enjoyment to enhance vocabulary.

d. Word Parts & Context Cues: analyzing word parts and cross-check with context cues to determine the meaning of unknown words. 

e. Figurative Language: using similes, metaphors, and analogies to compare and analyze figurative words and phrases or clarify word meanings. 

f. 2 & 3 tier words: applying tier 2 words and tier 3 words across subjects and subject-specific contexts to enhance precise communication.

Unit Plan: 1,080 Learning Activities for Grade 6 English Language Arts & Literature. Based on the new LearnAlberta curriculum from Alberta Education.
